An Improv Tournament

The Garathon /ˈgarəˌTHän/ is an elimination-style improv tournament in which sixteen local NYC teams will be randomly selected from a pool of applicants to vie for $500 in total cash prizes.  Each team will be allowed to perform any form of improvisation they choose so long as they adhere to the time allotted.

Teams will compete in three rounds of shows whereby winners advance by audience voting (in the first two rounds) and by a combination of guest judging and audience voting (in the finals).  Congratulations to 2011 runner-up, Meaningful Touch, and winners, Out of the Woods, who survived the gauntlet of sixteen teams to win it all!

We extend our gratitude to everyone who applied and/or participated and made the 2011 tournament a resounding success: our final show was completely sold out.  Applications for the 2012 Garathon II will be available in late February 2012.  Please check back here for more info.
